About Julio Roriz

Julio Roriz Júlio Roriz was born in Viana do Castelo, Portugal, in 1970. Dividing his childhood between Castanheira do Ribatejo, Carreço, Vila Franca de Xira and Braga, has resulted in someone that, going against the stream, insisted on betting in electronics, forcing himself to ignore the talent that was clear to everybody else.
Later, in 1997, he joined the Escola Superior Artística do Porto, in photography. While there, he participated in group exhibitions, namely “Nudity in a jar” and “The Temple”, and at the University of Psychology in Coimbra the “Christ”, iconic photograph and exponent of the artist’s interest and study devoted to the subject of Faith/Enchantment/Christianity. He was also involved in a project of independent cinema, as director of photography and producer in the feature film “Kuzz”.
Still in the course of his higher education, he produced “Colour Pinhole” and “Arch” both exhibited at the Festival de Cinema de Avanca and Casa dos Ferrazes in Oporto.
At present, he betted on Beja city, where he laid the foundations of his personal life, teaching professional photography courses. He actively takes part in the cultural events of the city. He introduced the individual exhibition “Vanitas” in the Casa das Artes of the city, and participated in Galeria Aberta 2009 and Mertolarte 2010, where he got respectively the third and second prizes.
In his Curriculum we can also find Ballet Teatro Contemporâneo do Porto, Pedro Lobo atelier or Museu de Serralves, but the current itinerary is Alentejo, Portugal.
